Im new here, but i've found that in the past there have been many Graphic General chats, and they've all been closed.
I don't really understand why, it was supporting the Section and it was always thriving.

I've read the rules and I do not see where it says "No making a General chat in a sub section"
In fact it follows rules

So now I leave it up to the people of D2jsp, I suppose.
The Thread causes no harm, and it was usually always on topic.

The problem was that it was completely off topic. If you look at the last three 25 post pages/last 75 posts of the thread, you can see for yourself.

Why is that a problem?

Have you been to the General Chat? None the less it was a place where artist/designers could talk to each other and not be terribly trolled.

who cares if it wasnt about gfx, its not like people were posting in there to increase their post count

Rules are broken all the time, but this should be an exception.

Thanks mate, and here is another good point of why it should be kept open.
Its a place where new members like myself can interact with other people here, the people seemed to be kinder and less caring to a new guy asking a noobish question, compared to ask in a entire new thread.

Of course there should be rules to it, im not saying it would be total anarchy, rave you just have to see it through a Graphic users eye.

Not almost every post. People do post their life questions there, and the topic maker PMs them. He bumps the topic by quoting RewTheBrave's post about not spamming. I see that quite a few of the posts are off topic, but not even 50%, and definitely not all. Because most of the discussion is done via PM for privacy, you do not see a large portion of the on-topic mentoring.
I can see posts on every page that are relevant to the thread. If you see spam posts, report them. The reason it was closed in Graphics Design was because the entire community was posting off-topic things there, and because it is NOT a chat forum, just a graphics design forum. General chat is for general discussions/threads that don't belong in other places. That's just about the only place it could go.

About that quoted text: If Graphics users used the thread for 'topics of interest' that were related to graphics, it would be still up. Posts about completely different things should be in general chat. It wouldn't be fair if one group of people had a 'random discussion thread' that was only about their lives/things that happened in it, it has to be only Graphics, otherwise it belongs in a different sub-forum or General Chat.
