Premise: in the real world, random individuals can't come up to you or directly see how much money you have in the bank, financial information is kept private.

I no rules say "you can't bid on something you don't have the fg for" so instead of having an option to hide the amount of fg you have maybe an option to show less than the amount you have?

Why: People tend to over charge you when you buy items or lowball you when you sell items if you have a decent amount of fg.

Notes:
1) moderator/mediator/trusted and + groups would be able to see the "true" amount of your fg - due to potential of derived scams.
2) you can only post an amount equal to or less than your current amount of fg - YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SPOOF HIGHER NUMBER OF FG!

Benefits:
1) control how much fg people will know you have
2) help prevent people from overcharging you
3) help prevent people lowballing you
4) help prevent random people asking for loans or donations

I would like to know what you guys think of the idea in terms of its flaws and potential positives.

Thanks for reading.

Just don't buy overpriced items and ignore lowballs.

Thanks for your opinion,
my main point is that the same people that lowball are likely to offer a "fair" price when the seller has a modest amount of fg vs when a seller has above average fg
sure ignoring is a viable option but it also extends sale times = higher overhead and more time to sell the same amount of inventory

It's the 'market' sellers decide how quick they want to get rid of an item (by pricing high or low) and buyers decide how badly they want an item depending on how much they offer for it. You're gonna get that with any market you go in to.

I don't see this as a necessity, hiding someone's fg just to manipulate offers or prices. ..Voted no sorry.

Yes if the market was ideal that would be the case, but in the real market people don't have the ability to see your funds until you make an offer to purchase example: some random person on the street does not know how much money you have in the bank.

@Secret, your statement is an opinion, regardless of a value of item, you cannot prove its value based on market where both parties buying potential is out in the open.

I am not looking for opinions on how having the option of hiding your fg would help or hurt your ability to sell/buy items, i only want opinions on if you would want it and if not what negatives will result from it since you are not forced to hide your amount.

Aren't you referring to jsp trades in your OP? Hiding someone's fg is just an easy way out because offers or prices aren't what you want them to be. Not everything is gonna be made to your or anyone's liking.

Sure real life situation, you're responsible for how much cash you have in the bank - so it's your responsibility to manage and spend it wisely.

But back on topic, If you're selling an item and offers aren't coming or they're undesirable, then it's out of your control and just gotta keep bumping until you see one you're fine with. Same way with buying - there's always someone willing to undercut someone else's price for a quicker sale.

I agree with being able to put a limiter on how much fg is shown. Those people who spend that much time acquiring fg have statements in their sigs because of how many people beg them for fg. I think they would appreciate it greatly, considering how much time they spend on D2jsp. Even a simple to the nearest 1000 fg indicator. A rounded fg indicator would save space and prevent 1337, 420, 187 and whatever other numerical code signs you can think of.

YES. It gets very annoying when people beg for fg.
