So I noticed that in the LS forums, they have a mentor program in which experienced LS members may post to help out newer LS members.
They also have a list of approved advisors in which newer users can PM for questions regarding anything LS related!
Here are the topics:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=35883837&f=272
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=23998419&f=74

My idea is to simply apply those programs to Diablo II as well. I mean, why not? I understand that LS is newer than d2, but the discussions and guides sub-forum has questions every day, and although myself and various other users try our best to answer anything we can, I sometimes see questions left alone without responses for days in which I can't answer... Maybe if we had advisors, or an organized thread, people could get more answers, quicker :)

I can't think of any reason why D2 players should not be able to have a list of people they can PM, AIM, MSN, etc. for help, if users are willing to do so :) I bet there are a ton of members who might not take the time to post, but may be willing to reply to a pm every now and then.

Anyways, that's my suggestion! LMK Any ideas, opinions, etc. etc. :)

Thanks!

Yes to both, sounds like a great idea. Could you however expand on your idea for the Mentors more though? My thoughts on that are a bit hazy and I don't fully understand
what you mean for them :\

If this happens please add my name! I post in Strategies and Guides all the time for Diablo II. I encourage people to PM me for anything,
and it just so happens I've played diablo almost 10 years now and just slightly might be a master at it :P Would LOVE to help newbies out.

Tyvm for the opinions, interest and votes :)
To explain the mentors further, basically it's people that are very knowledgeable about the game who are put on a list so that users may pm them whenever they have a question, instead of posting and maybe getting trolled :p

Totally agreeing here.

I've seen alot of troll posts, troll topics etc. in the D2 discussion forum. This way you would know whom to trust with these questions.

Yes to both. :)

Yes to both!
Also this could be a great addition to the subforum I am very active in, which is the Runescape Section :D

Would love to volunteer my time for something like this and I'm very knowlegdeable about Runescape if I may say so myself

How does this separate the list from the mentors? What's the difference if they're both lists of names? I don't see how the mentor list post will stop anyone from spamming and making fun of questions they have if it's all going to be public too. Currently I'm picturing something like sticky post titled Mentor Help and in it is a list of people who can help you with active links if you click their names, and maybe if we can manage it some how, a possible time tracker to see when they were last online to help people choose which mentor. Then it is also open for people to post public questions if necessary. In which anyone CAN reply, but the mentors are the main source of help. Is that right?
