i'll do that again this evening, but that's still a basic representation of the ratio of classic to xpansion players. Some realms were omitted because they don't matter anyway i.e. Asia ;)

What I'm getting at is that I was here before My Events, and I don't recall the classic forums being overrun with spam from people iso Events. You are making it impossible for people to get crushes, and level jobs, which is helping contribute to the downfall of D2. In classic, posts take 30 mins - 2 hours to fall off the front page, not even close to the 10 seconds in expansion. I'm not posting this to slam mediators, ptaulborg, or any mini mods that want to agree with what they say just because they say it, I'm doing it because I love this game, I've been playing for a very long time, and this is seriously hindering the economy in Classic. When someone can't find a service provider for 3-5 days, they tend to not want to have another service done because of the hassle. The My Events Forums are a really bad idea in classic. Expansion is a different story, it's a whole different world, with 3-5x the amount of classic players. Classic is a small community, and everyone knows everybody, we don't spam like people in Expansion, and I believe that posting an ISO of a crush or level job should not be punished.

And also, let me state, this is NOT a suggestion about the semantics of following site rules and using the proper forums. So please don't post comments about how if everyone just did the right thing nothing would be wrong.

Agreed. Not allowing service ISO's in Classic is lunacy. LOD =/= Classic and the rules should be a bit different to accomodate the needs of the users here on d2jsp IMO

what's bolded is entirely false, and you know it.

and classic has been fairly dead since a month into this ladder (east at least, west has always been worse, and i don't know about europe). there are less players, and have been for years. there's less to trade on classic.

sure, more people play expansion than classic, but they should all follow the same rules. plenty of people from expansion go to classic looking for rushes so they can bypass the a5 quests. so what's to say they wouldn't just go around posting on expansion forums where they'd get in trouble for it, and instead post in classic forums where it'd be allowed?

double standard. people complain about it in expansion as well, but it's just about adjusting. learn to post in my events, and look in my events. just takes longer because there's less players.
if everyone is so tight-knit, then everyone should know who the people who usually provide services are.

the economy in classic is not being hindered by use of my events. the influx of users supporting/using 3rd party programs to find items is what killed the classic economy.

i've played classic for 4 years. been on jsp for nearly 2.5 of them. never took me more than an hour to find one, because i know people who provide them. being the tight-knit community that it is.
though before i quit d2 (in the last month or so), i was the one providing these types of services, and i often had people pming me to do a rush or chant or level service for them. and i often looked in my events, or hosted my own event, and had no problems with it whatsoever.

having services posted by mods just blocks out others who are not in the guilds that are hosting the service that is being support by the mods, and allows them to corner the market, just like all of those users who utilize 3rd party programs to find items, hence why the classic economy has gone to crap. going back to that is a horrible idea.

You are missing the point: The reason there is a "My Events" system in LOD does not apply to Classic. The Classic boards would not be flooded with ISO's like the LOD forums and trade threads would not quickly disappear into the abyss.

The reason that there is a "My Events" system is that only item trades should be occurring in the trading grounds, and services should be posted in their own area. Has nothing to do with differences between LOD and Classic, as posts "disappear into the abyss" already without ISO's being posted in the LOD forums, due to the number of users.

Certain forums are more active at certain times of day, but it's really not that hard to just go over to my events and offer or look for a service. If more classic players utilized this, they'd probably get what they want in a reasonable amount of time. But most don't even bother, as if it's really that hard to make an extra click and post in my events instead of the trading grounds.

thats funny, i don't recall you "providing" any jobs on classic forums, and i'm ..to say the least.. extremely active. Since you quit, why are you haggling us about this seeing as you don't use the boards anymore? We don't need a minimod in my thread, so please just leave it be.
