As I sit here studying for a finance final, it occurred to me that JSP should implement some kind of Interest system with Forum Gold. Before you reject the idea, hear me out:
PROs
Forum Gold is treated like real money; therefore, we should have some benefits of keeping it in our account
Availability to budget and gives more value to FG
Ability to accrue FG if a member decides to take some time off
The choice of having a "premium" account will bring more revenue to the site and more donors

CONs
More incentive to hoard FG
Benefits the rich and doesn't really benefit the poor

So please, let me know what you think (appreciate both positive and negative feedback, as long as it constructive).

Another idea I had is we can give rewards and benefits for loyal customers (such as six months free premium membership) since there really is no incentive to donate other than being helpful and possible access to the Donor Forum. This would no doubt increase the amount of donations since people will actually see a reward instead of a "thank you". Just my $0.02

Of course this is a very simple explanation of my idea since I'm just pitching it. If you want more information on my idea, feel free to ask.

Sure, it'd be nice but njaguar wants less fg in the system so this will surely be rejected.

Some problems:
-5% a month is way too much. If someone has 100k (not that uncommon) and goes afk for a year then by the time they get back they have almost 180k. Maybe 5% PA would be more appropriate
-People like having even amounts of fg, interest will most likely give people un-even numbers of fg.

also, most people donate for stars

This would make forum gold go down greatly in value in my opinion. Don't see how this would work exactly for people who mediate and have a constant fluctuation of gold most of the time.

I said it is treated as real money, i.e. currency on this site, not has comparable value

/e Also, don't pay attention to the actual %, that's just there as an example.

A guild collects 200k together at the end of each month. 10k profit / month. No thank you.

In what way is it treated like real money? None.

You do realise you are saying I should be at 422,987.65 FG in 12 months, for doing nothing...

That doesn't answer my question. You can also get real life items with potatoes.
