JSP's IM is awful. It was a terrible idea from conception to implementation. I do not use it, and never will. I know several others that feel the same way.
This topic will be closed. The truth is, you DO have it, just not the "exact" way you want it, which in my opinion, is rather pedantic.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't check my own profile regularly to see if I received a new friend request.
Because, posting and bumping a suggestion to combat a "problem" regularly is much less work than checking your profile every day.

It would be very simple if a request also sent a PM notifying the person of the request and linked them to Manage Friends where they can approve it.
Since there should be no reason not to implement this, please state otherwise if you're voting "no", or we'll just assume you're being a disagreeable jerk
I would find it annoying, that's a reason not to implement it. I get quite a lot of random friend requests off people I don't know. Not that I'm some sort of superstar or anything, just saying this would annoy me to no end.
Another is the fact that you ALREADY HAVE IT and it will not happen as it is unnecessary work for Paul.
tl;dr

No.
