I think it takes way too long for mods to look over scammer accusations.
There are many accusations that are 10-20+ pages of just bumps, and makes it very easy for scammers to successfully scam someone.
Either that or give the trusted/mediators that roam the section that actually help out access to locking people.
Makes this site very untrustworthy.

I guarantee this has been suggested hundreds of times, but I don't care, it obviously hasn't been fixed.
I've been scammed three times and nothing was done about it for months, I ended up giving up.

locking forum gold is a VERY privileged feature, it's not just about being trustworthy but being an expert in reviewing and spotting things necessary to lock a scammer, since there are so many factors that go into reviewing cases and catching scammers. only a select few will ever have the chance to be considered one of these professionals.

to help mitigate the bottlenecking of staff attention, d2jsp provides mediators to help assist traders in hopes of creating a much smoother and safer trading experience. this does not only give peace of mind to the traders, but preventing scams also frees up moderator resources to help expedite reviews for cases that may have been harder to avoid. :)

This.

Prevention is better than the cure, so to speak, I think if anything, JSP should work to encourage more people to use mediators or indeed, simply trade safer and avoid being scammed, rather than concentrate on simply getting through the stuff faster (and with increased speed would come a higher risk of error or lapse in judgement)

If nothing else, as the system stands, it surely makes sense to simply not trade with a user you do not trust, or wait for a mediator, simply BECAUSE of how long scammer accusation cases take to solve. Surely waiting for a mediator was worth it, even if it took an hour or longer, rather than having to spend weeks bumping a thread and getting nowhere

And I have heard of cases where people wait days without a mediator pming about the request, I actually requested one once and never received a message at all.
And no matter how many precautions people take, there's no way to avoid a scam. People can look as honest as anyone else and turn around and scam you.
I took all the precautions I needed, bought a few items, they poofed, and nothing was done about it.
The person ignored my pm's, and a mediator didn't even look at the post.
Requesting a mediator on average takes a few hours to wait for.
And besides, it takes about 5 minutes to look at a scammer accusation, and decide whether it's valid or not.
