Imo every user should be able to turn off / on the sound on the instant messenger chat.
Like an option, Maybe it's already possible. But it sounds like it's not

You can now configure sound settings in the d2jsp Instant Messenger. Refresh/clear cache, then click the settings icon in the top left, then check/uncheck what you want on/off.
