At this point of the IM-release, i see the issue, that you can only use this function when your chatpartner has been informed first ( by pm or another messenger..)
Since it always returns the error message that people are offline if you try to send a message to them, i assume, that it has to be opened before chatting via IM is actually possible.



My suggestion is: only return the "this is user offline" error, when he actually is offline

and integrate a notifier similar to the "pm-one" that shows the message somewhere at the top:



Would be cool, if you could just click on this notifier to login to IM, and start chatting

It already exists, right next to your red box. Send them a PM to get on the dIM, and they get a notifier pop up on their screen.
