I saw IM as a feature to help for eliminating PM's....NOT guild chats.....they are both totally unrelated and should co-exist. Many people are for this, easily over 1000 people want this. Why not?
Many people as well as myself only get on to keep in touch with guildies/friends

It is still possible to keep in touch with guild members and friends.

For guild members, you can use the Instant Messenger and buy a guild chat, or just use the notebox.
For friends, you can use a notebox page which you set to public, so your friends can look at it and post.

Yes I am aware of the notebox's but they have limits and I like being able to go through posts that were made 4-6 months ago or more =/ Also it makes it hard to hold contests & guild events

There should be no reason to eliminate GC for IM

Many users are outraged by the new rules & this makes it less of a place to socialize
