It has been made clear that d2jsp.org does not support the betting that happens on the site and that people are betting at their own risk. But when people are taking advantage of the system and constantly welching people something needs to be done. I do not see a reason why d2jsp.org Mediators are unable to mediate bets that take place on the site. They themselves are not betting, which I wouldn't see a problem with either. Majority of the sports forums are betting, so to say that the site does not support betting is an absolute lie. The threads that contain bets would be shut down if this was true.

There should either be a group of mediators that are assigned specifically to sports betting or all mediators should be able to mediate bets.

Be happy it is allowed at all.

He obviously has chosen for either legal or moral reasons not to "support" betting on this site, which means that the pseudo-staff representatives of the site (tagged members) are not allowed to mediate.

No harm in posting this up, though I guess. Maybe some day he would reconsider his position.

But a poll is meaningless because it doesn't matter if every person here supports the idea. He'll do what he will do with respect to this issue.

It sounds to me like you need to understand the difference between allowing betting and supporting betting.

Because if there is too much confusion and it has to go one way or the other, you better believe all betting will go away.

We pay him to support this site, end of discussion.

Why would he care when he has nerds buying forum gold from him everyday just to bet?

He is biting the hand that feeds.

Allowing and supporting go hand-in-hand.

It could be a personal decision, but I suspect there are legal lines regarding gambling that he doesn't want to cross because either 1. he will get shut down or 2. he will have to endure a huge pain in the ass to avoid getting shut down

Either way, it's not worth the trouble because a handful of people want mediators.

No, they don't.

Legally they are black-and-white.

All polls are meaningless. Paul can decide what he wants to do no matter what the poll is. So this poll, as meaningless as it is, is his right to post.

Betting is at your on risk. Threads like this do not help.

Not true. He has incorporated many, many site suggestions based on overwhelming positive response to polls.

But there is no point that Mediators can not be involved in the betting system. They are simply doing exactly what their title entails.
