I spend most of my time on the Diablo 2 East Classic Trading Forum:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/forum.php?f=49I report situations like this one daily:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38243376&f=49http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38243330&f=49http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38243471&f=49Here a member has violated two rules of the Trading Grounds.
They have more than two topics in the top 50 and one is an early repost of the same item.
I reported all three, selecting the option for "Too many topics in the Top 50".
They are now all the way on page two (topics #50-100) and yet to be closed.
So what is this about "just use the report button and they will be dealt with in time"?
I see this occurance nightly, report it, and watch the threads travel on past page 5 without ever being closed.
Why would this bother me? Because I have Paid topics being pushed out of view and I follow the bump rules.
The other night I reported one member who had 5 topics in the top 50, all of which were deliberate spam threads, about starcraft and fake scammers and other random rants.
I waited and waited, and finally PMed a moderator who then closed them.
I have no idea what it looks like from their perspective; as far as the function of the report system and how it comes to them.
Nor do I know what "bigger fish they have to fry"; like scammers, hackers, etc; which make my "spammers" low priority.
But it really makes one feel like the report button is a joke sometimes; I click and click and watch it do nothing.
Another issue, which is illustrated with the 3 links I provided above; is the lack of a "Duplicate Topic" option in the Report Button.
It seems there is no proper category for someone who posts "Raven Track Boots 10fg"; then 5 minutes later decides to post "Raven Track Boots 5fg".
I have tried to use "Early Bump"; since they are virtually bypassing the early bump rule by creating a new thread; but I assume that this is seen my a moderator reviewing the incoming reports and they say "what early bump, this thread has No bumps yet" and may not link the two together.
Also, "too many topics in the top 50" may not apply if they have only those two duplicates.
So help us out here, JSP. We want to help enforce your rules and keep JSP functional, but we need some updates to the system to do so.
I reported almost every reply to a "football discussion" in our trade forum last night, and even gave the guys a link to the "football forum" on JSP.
They just kept yelling about who's best and who won/lost and the thread went on for a long time. I don'y know if it got closed or went all the way to 60 replies; but it spammed all of our legit threads off the page for at least 30 minutes. Why is this allowed to happen?
Sorry if all this seems like I am whining or complaining.
I think JSP is an awesome site and quite a complex creation that probably takes more than I know to fuction as well as it does.
I have and still do greatly appreciate all the help from moderators, mediators, members++ junior moderaters, and fellow members.
Many of my reports, questions, concerns, and such have been adressed and corrected in a timely manner.
I want to see more of this and am willing to help make it happen in whatever way I can.
PS - I also wonder why "10% warns" are not given more freely to people who are knowingly and deliberately disobeying the rules.
There are many people who have been here long enough to know what they are doing is against policy and disrupting the function of this site.
Why are these people allowed to continue their behavior unchecked? Does njaguar instruct his staff to be leniant, to "let things slide" unless extremely dangerous?
If the rules are not going to be enforced why are they posted? It makes so people feel like JSP is their own website and they can do what they wish here.
I and many others have invested a lot of time, energy, and other resources into the site and want to see it continue to be clean and clear, run at optimum capacity.
Lets get strict and let folks know that this isn't myspace or some random alley-way that they can trash.
PPS - Do I need to donate some FG or money to JSP to make my opinions heard and considered? Buy a name orb or something? I'm willing.
Also, why was this thread closed so soon?
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38239596&f=258Perhaps because the issue is being avoided?
I know we aren't supposed to ask for trusted or med/mod status, but I'm willing to help on East Classic Trading or anywhere else on JSP if the staff is overwhelmed.
To those of you who balk at my join date; check my post count or posts per day.
I am very active and invloved here; and want to be a supporter of JSPs goals.
PPPS - Here are some examples of folks who habitually and deliberately spam my topics and are reported via "the button", but recieve no more 10% warns. Furthermore, their comments remain in my threads, interrupting the flow of the trades and converstations. Why are these people allowed to get away with this unwarranted, unprovoked "illegal" behavior?
