I spend most of my time on the Diablo 2 East Classic Trading Forum:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/forum.php?f=49

I report situations like this one daily:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38243376&f=49
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38243330&f=49
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38243471&f=49

Here a member has violated two rules of the Trading Grounds.
They have more than two topics in the top 50 and one is an early repost of the same item.
I reported all three, selecting the option for "Too many topics in the Top 50".
They are now all the way on page two (topics #50-100) and yet to be closed.
So what is this about "just use the report button and they will be dealt with in time"?
I see this occurance nightly, report it, and watch the threads travel on past page 5 without ever being closed.
Why would this bother me? Because I have Paid topics being pushed out of view and I follow the bump rules.
The other night I reported one member who had 5 topics in the top 50, all of which were deliberate spam threads, about starcraft and fake scammers and other random rants.
I waited and waited, and finally PMed a moderator who then closed them.
I have no idea what it looks like from their perspective; as far as the function of the report system and how it comes to them.
Nor do I know what "bigger fish they have to fry"; like scammers, hackers, etc; which make my "spammers" low priority.
But it really makes one feel like the report button is a joke sometimes; I click and click and watch it do nothing.

Another issue, which is illustrated with the 3 links I provided above; is the lack of a "Duplicate Topic" option in the Report Button.
It seems there is no proper category for someone who posts "Raven Track Boots 10fg"; then 5 minutes later decides to post "Raven Track Boots 5fg".
I have tried to use "Early Bump"; since they are virtually bypassing the early bump rule by creating a new thread; but I assume that this is seen my a moderator reviewing the incoming reports and they say "what early bump, this thread has No bumps yet" and may not link the two together.
Also, "too many topics in the top 50" may not apply if they have only those two duplicates.
So help us out here, JSP. We want to help enforce your rules and keep JSP functional, but we need some updates to the system to do so.
I reported almost every reply to a "football discussion" in our trade forum last night, and even gave the guys a link to the "football forum" on JSP.
They just kept yelling about who's best and who won/lost and the thread went on for a long time. I don'y know if it got closed or went all the way to 60 replies; but it spammed all of our legit threads off the page for at least 30 minutes. Why is this allowed to happen?
Sorry if all this seems like I am whining or complaining.
I think JSP is an awesome site and quite a complex creation that probably takes more than I know to fuction as well as it does.
I have and still do greatly appreciate all the help from moderators, mediators, members++ junior moderaters, and fellow members.
Many of my reports, questions, concerns, and such have been adressed and corrected in a timely manner.
I want to see more of this and am willing to help make it happen in whatever way I can.

PS - I also wonder why "10% warns" are not given more freely to people who are knowingly and deliberately disobeying the rules.
There are many people who have been here long enough to know what they are doing is against policy and disrupting the function of this site.
Why are these people allowed to continue their behavior unchecked? Does njaguar instruct his staff to be leniant, to "let things slide" unless extremely dangerous?
If the rules are not going to be enforced why are they posted? It makes so people feel like JSP is their own website and they can do what they wish here.
I and many others have invested a lot of time, energy, and other resources into the site and want to see it continue to be clean and clear, run at optimum capacity.
Lets get strict and let folks know that this isn't myspace or some random alley-way that they can trash.
PPS - Do I need to donate some FG or money to JSP to make my opinions heard and considered? Buy a name orb or something? I'm willing.

Also, why was this thread closed so soon?
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38239596&f=258
Perhaps because the issue is being avoided?

I know we aren't supposed to ask for trusted or med/mod status, but I'm willing to help on East Classic Trading or anywhere else on JSP if the staff is overwhelmed.

To those of you who balk at my join date; check my post count or posts per day.
I am very active and invloved here; and want to be a supporter of JSPs goals.

PPPS - Here are some examples of folks who habitually and deliberately spam my topics and are reported via "the button", but recieve no more 10% warns. Furthermore, their comments remain in my threads, interrupting the flow of the trades and converstations. Why are these people allowed to get away with this unwarranted, unprovoked "illegal" behavior?

Why?

Another member with more than two topics in the top 50:

http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38247426&f=49
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38246783&f=49
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38246936&f=49
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38246207&f=49

All reported; none closed.
In my opinion, two of those are a "duplicate topic" or an "avoidance of the early bump rule".

Member has now early bumped one of these threads multiple times; these also reported, still not closed...

http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38246936&f=49

/edit - Thanks! Something was done about this after he bumped it even more.
Now my question is: Why doesn't he get a 10% warn for his actions? He has been around long enough to know the rules and has had threads closed before for this habitual behavior of his. What exactly does get folks a 10% warn?

Here is vvStfu spamming another member's thread as he did mine:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38191129&p=252079890

Note how he posted two replies and in the first one made offers of 1fg more that the current and then just after that made fun of the people bidding on and buying the items. Obviously meant as "fake" offers and just an attempt to get attention. Why is he allowed to continue this behavior? Are these the kind of actions JSP wants to allow? For reference, here is the thread where he spammed me:

http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38220492&p=252092318

By the way, he also posted pornography last night (not that I didn't like it). His post was reported and by the time I logged off it was still up for everyone to see. I had heard that was a big offense here and dealt with swiftly and sternly; but I suppose this is not always the case.

Here a member bumps my paid topic down the page to let folks know his new "post count" and beg for donations (illegal?):
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38251339&f=49

/edit - thread was closed. thanks! some of my faith is being restored :)

Thanks for your support Eliza (another member who, like me, knows and follows JSP rules).

Here's more spam in our forum:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38252312&f=49

Anyone have a link where I can read more about the roles of Members+, Junior Moderators, Mediators, Moderators, etc?
Curious if we can somehow get a Members+ or someone to watch over our forum and keep it clean.
I'd be willing to donate FG to pay a portion of this person's salary.

More spam (second link is from a habitual spammer, makes deliberate off topic threads almost every night):

Another "repeat and regular offender" in our forum:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38253034&f=49
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38254105&f=49
also has 0% warn after multiple deliberate violations.

reported this one and it got closed fairly quickly, thanks:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38253748&f=49

this one made it's way to 61 replies without being closed, I reported it when it first appeared:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38252616&f=49&o=0

just reported this one, will see what happens:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/index.php?act=report&c=1

My point here is...
if the report button is not going to be more than 50% effective and functional;
then we need someone to watch the forum and enforce the rules.
Even if this just involves a members+ assigned to oversee the activity and PM moderators when significant incidents are occurring.
Or perhaps give that person's "report button clicks" more power to draw the attention of a superior; like an extra flag on it.
Been suggested before I'm sure, but why not make this happen?

Same guy is back again with duplicate topics for the same items and more than two topics in the top 50:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38254838&f=49
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38255291&f=49
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=38255687&f=49
there is also at least one early bump in there...
see him doing this at least a couple times a week and 0% warn...
