So I decided it was time to wet my feet in the donor forum and maybe try to buy some stuff with my forum gold... God was i mistaken. Rule #14 in the Donor Forum, "Those who gamble on sports betting, poker etc. are not allowed to bid here. Also, jackpot winnings from the Hourly Raffle cannot be used to buy RL items."
I have taken a screenshot of the PM conversation I had with Lajo, the Moderator that is mostly in charge of the Donor Forum.
I am more or less trying to CHANGE this rule, but I would at LEAST like to know the answer to the question I asked Lajo.

Here is the conversation Lajo and I have had thus far.

This is a VERY tricky one.

Basically, as long as d2jsp TOLERATES (notice I did not say supports) betting in the Sports Coliseum forums, Rule#14 will remain in effect.

As someone who spends a decent amount of time in the sports coliseum forum, I can tell that people can become desperate for Forum Gold [ie) taking loans from friends] so that they can have more to bet with and make back the FG they have lost.

The last thing that njaguar would want is people selling real life goods for forum gold just so that they can gamble it away in an unofficial forum.

You could make the argument that these people are "responsible adults" but that is not the case, because not every d2jsp user is 18+

Worst case scenario, someone sells something in the real life trading forum, gets a HUGE payout of FG for the item, and loses every bit of it in the Sports Coliseum forum.

Before you know it, /lawsuit.

Rule #14 is in place for a reason. And that's what I think it is ;)

check the bottom of the hourly raffle

How to win:
Match all 3 numbers of next drawing in the same exact order drawn to win Jackpot. (Max Winners: Unlimited, pot split) (Odds of winning: 1:42840)
Match all 3 numbers, out of order, and win 16.66% of the pot. (Currently: 2,498 Forum Gold) (Max Winners: 2) (Odds of winning: 1:7140)
Match the first 2 numbers in order, and win 2.94% of the pot. (Currently: 440 Forum Gold) (Max Winners: 10) (Odds of winning: 1:1260)
Match any 2 numbers drawn, and win 0.49% of the pot. (Currently: 73 Forum Gold) (Max Winners: 50) (Odds of winning: 1:210)

** Max Winners are per drawing. Winners are chosen by who bought their ticket first.

Disclaimer: The Forum Gold being collected and distributed as the raffle prize has no actual cash value.

you can still sell items ion the DF if you use the betting forums, it says nothing about that, you just cant BID on items in the DF if you use the betting forums.

Nothing a simple release of liability / proof of age form couldn't resolve.

Then you have the argument of welching in the poker forum. Keep winning until your luck runs out, welch the last scrub, buy something from the donor forum

it is not allowed for a reason, and will remain that way. That is all you need to know.
