~~~ Signature Maximum Characters ~~~




I have thought about Signature, and max characters in it.
When I wanted to use a new Signature a few days ago, I made it like this:
"Hello I Like All These Kind Of Colors Do You Like Them Too?"

As we can see its 47 characters + 12 spaces = 59 Total. (If I have counted it right =])



But if we count it in the code way, its way more:

With other words so much as 1550 characters! And of course I couldn't use that since maximum characters is 400 in signature.



Then to my suggestion:

My suggestion is to make so the character limit in your signature, is what characters that is SHOWED in the SIGNATURE, not in the CODE.
Which would be way better when you use for exemplar color codes as here, or trade links and similar.
Edit: Ofc we still have 400 characters as maximum but it would be maximum of the 400 SHOWN characters, not the code.

I think it would be good and make sense, since this is not a long signature text if you look at how it looks (Only 59 characters).

But if we look at the code length (1550 characters) it is impossible to have something like this :)

I don't see this as possible, but it may just be because I'm not that computer smart as most that do coding and similar things.

How is a computer going to know it's more or less then 400 characters after the html takes affect? It's only way of calculating is a total amount of characters when you press the 'Edit' button.

Plus, I think njaguar has said something before in a similar situation that he doesn't want the forums looking like a 3 year old coloring book. ;)

Hmm okay thanks for your opinion, I thought the same too, but if we would have (I think its a suggestion up abut this atm) a Signture Preview we could
maybe make it to count the characters of the preview, idk.

Or maybe another way.

Yes I like your idea / the reasons for it!

I like it cuz i had the same problem those days wanted to add 3 links to trades in my signature and then I was owned by character maximum :(

just don't count the bbcode in the final amount of characters, which is fairly easy to do
