so i recently had problems if somewone invites me to my friends list i mostly don't see it

so i was thinking if somewone wants to add you to friends list he pushes the button add to friends and the other user gets a pm.
the pm is saying like this :

another problem occurs when someone tried to add you but cancelled, and repeated those actions to spam your pm box.
without prevention of such abuse it would rather harm more than benefit us.

personally i don't mind some kind of notifier of friend requests, but pm is a big no.
