If this was done to reduce spam in that section, I would like to suggest implementing a toggle feature which would be controlable by the blogger only. This way if the blogger wishes his blog to be public he can set it to public, and if he would rather it be "friends only" he can set it as that. It would also be nice if this feature would remain forever active, so that if spam starts becoming a problem the blogger can toggle it to "friends only" and like wise, can open it to the public if he later wishes to.

Is this a good idea?

It would also be nice to be able to block individual members from posting in your blog, such as those who repeatedly spam or flame.

1st post! ( in this thread :) )
And as to the real topic, yes I was actually quite annoyed with the new changes.
I think it should be an option that could be able to be changed by the creator at any time the blog isnt closed.
Good idea, yes from me!

No, it will increase spam.
As before, only spammers created blogs, and if they can make public ones, there will be spam again.

OR heres a thought.
Make all posts made in the user blogs, not count towards your post count.
That way, people could spam all they want with out the massive post count going up.

Some people may welcome spam, but the majority of people were only using user blogs to get their +1's. If you allow people to make their blogs open to the public then they will continue to spam and there will be problems like before.

Voted no, sorry
