This June I'll have been using d2jsp for 4 years, off and on. I'm not a super frequent member, I tend to install diablo, play a few months, dump it give away my FG and come back 6 months later to do it again. I think alot of us are that way.

Been here off and on goin on 4 years.
I bought the donation star and tried your program when it came out. It was fun for a while.
Never had a warn, none in logs, none I remember.
Never been locked. Never caused problems.
Traded over the years with lots of people. Never had a problem.
Traded with trusteds, mediators, old mediators (hi Dad), and so on.

This Fraternity style trusted/mediator system you have in place works alright for moderators, because if you want to be a moderator you'll need to be really active anyways. Where it sucks a big nut is for regular forum goers. Not the super addicts who obsess enough to rack up 10k posts and trade big items and get noticed for a year until they get a trusted tag. Plenty of us have been regulars in good standing supporting your forums for a very long time.

Yet in the context of this forums rules I am no better than a scammer who joined yesterday with a new account and is working on another scam.

It's becoming necessary we get some consideration in automated style, instead of having the stigma of being dirty simply because we don't have a trusted/mediator/moderator tag. Since you've programmed some pretty heavy stuff Paul, I don't think it would be outside the realm of reality to ask you to create a plugin to your CMS in which time served without warns gives a member a certain percentage towards a "genuine player" tag, or something similar that distinguished long term problem-free jsp'ers from newbies, scammers and trouble makers.

This is mainly motivated by the irritation that we cannot offer legitimate services without breaking the rules. Services are a nice way to make some trading currency for myself or my guild without trying to compete to sell items with the many "extraneous programs" we aren't allowed to mention. Who wants to run 1000 baal runs legitimately to find a nice few items that actually trade well on the forum when other people do it in their sleep (literally)? Not me.

I can't uber trist someone for FG without breaking the rules. Neither can I rush, or grush. Why? I've been here longer than more than a few of these trusteds and moderators, and not caused any troubles along the way.

Clearly your current fraternity system has outgrown itself, because you have not kept up by word of mouth at all with the members who are earnest and legitimate. So make an automated system is in order, perhaps that's a step below a trusted/mediator, and give them a reasonable tag (could be a reverse of warn system carbon copy for karma). This would also need to allow for some basic privileges like being able to offer services.

I don't think that's at all a radical suggestion. I know many people would like to see something like this setup.

Thanks for the forums, hope you got time to make em a bit better here.

actually, you can uber trist without breaking the rules. You are allowed to post in people's iso topics and it is not breaking the rules.

As for the "time gone without warns = % points toward a tag" absolutely not. There would be tons of multi's who would make an account and just let it sit here without doing anything just to get a tag and then abuse it.

Also, if you know trusted members from when you were playing before then you can talk to one of them about hosting a leveling service for you.

as for this:

We have a tag like that already, it's called trusted.

I agree that it would nice, to get some recognition higher than "member" for those who have been around, and not been warned etc... I however dont feel the need for this higher ranking than "member" to have special privalges. Just recognition that we have been outstanding members would be suffice for me.

Paul has a few tags for the bad kids: "Banned", "Scammer", "Loser"

It would be nice for some some recognition, this could come from amount of users posts that are reported, posts per day, join date, FG log activity etc... and allow us normal members to achieve tags that are above "Members" and below "Trusted"

non rated is not a bad tag, you can still do services for fg you just have to post in someones thread who is iso, not all that hard imo

and you dont get a tag because you dont get warned, i know alot of people who have gotten warn, its not a bad thing it just helps you realize u did something wrong and to work on it

being active helping out etc are the reasons for a trusted tag, offering services is just a perk

@DoomOnYou

Well if you read closer perhaps you could make a valid point.

No multi is going to spend 2 years posting on multi accounts to keep it activeso the karma keeps going up. If they do, they'd do it automated like, and that would be detectable via programming unless they were very good. Any system can be broken.
And no, you cannot OFFER services via your own thread without getting it closed, and eventually getting warns. Posting in other people's is a jankity and half-assed work around, and it's not very realisitic unless you want to sit there all day refreshing the page to look for people who ask.
Most of the mediators I've ever PM'ed never get back to me, and the ones that do that was years ago bud.

Please take a moment to READ before you reply, if you're going to argue with me.

I did read. I don't see anything in your original post about them needing to be active to get this good "karma".

I believe you said:

As far as I know, being afk will definitely keep you warn free, which would then add points toward your special tag. So make an account, go afk for a while, come back with a "genuine player" tag and start scamming people because they think you're somewhat trusted. Nty.

Also, in regards to the comment about refreshing the page to look for people who ask, last time I checked there is a search filter in all of the trade forums. One of the search functions is levelin/rushes. It works wonders when trying to find people who are looking for a rush or ubers.

My last point here is this: either you are trusted or you are not. There is no "in between" phase where you are "somewhat trusted" or something.

There should be a "middle" trader rank in between not rated and trusted. Among all the people that never scammed and never will, only a tiny fraction becomes "trusted". Honestly, if someone goes through hundreds of transactions without a single s/a against them, even if they can't force anyone to trust them, they're obviously something more than "not rated". There should be a way to distinguish someone that's "been around" from a potential multi that's about to scam you.

the fact that you have a shout out to dad in this shows how inactive and out of touch you are
