Ive seen a few new people asking how to close a topic after a trade is completed lately and it gave me an idea.

Why not add a button that only the creater of the topic can see that lets them send a message/request to the mod q saying requesting to be closed. This can be used in a few different forums such as Trading Grounds, Sig/Svatar Request, General Help.

The reason for this is because some times when trades are completed and/or questions are answered people some times are unaware that the topic is no longed needed/ineffect and post there afterwords witch can some times even lead to more people posting there and making more spam. This happens a lot in the gen help forum and some times in the trading grounds. This would also help cut back on the pms that are sent to mods from people requesting get there topics closed seeing as they have enough on there hands already. Not only can someone use it after a trade is completed but they can also use it if a topic is getting spammed and flamed as well.

Ive thought about it and i really cant think of any downfall to this idea, so i thought id bring it up. I havnt seen it suggested before but sorry if it has.

Would love to hear some feed back about this so feel free to let me know what you think. smile.gif

Moderators are tied enough as it is, don't you think? Id imagine they wouldnt want to add to the workload + closing a topic after trade complete is far from necessary.

The report post button puts an alert into the queue, allowing them to see which topics have been reported.

then they need to make more moderators.... being overly busy is not an excuse for NOT appointing them extra responsibilities

No, the site is well enough moderated, They have enough to do already is what im saying. If we needed more moderators, dont you think paul would have appointed them? Its a USELESS responsibility, is what you dont get.

BTW, if your not going to vote in a poll or post your own opinion towards a topic, its simply considered spam, so..

well, for 1, that was my opinion, and its clearly not spam, you have no need to educate me on the site rules

secondly...

obviously the site is NOT moderated enough.... the other day, I waited for an hour for a trusted to help me with a complete character trade..... never showed up... never pmed me....

You just stated, a reason for no, saying "dont you think the moderators have enough to do"

Which is a bogus reason, thats like saying, the police are to busy with drugs, to worry about speeding....

The moderators are here to Moderate the site... aka, they are the police... if they dont have enough people to do the job, the clearly need more....

Im sick of seeing "the mods have enough to do" as excuses for reasons...

I personally would like to see this feature...... [Yes]

I agree with you it would add to the workload a little but if you think about it theres over 30 people that can respond to this and its not like its going to be in effect in every forum on the site.

Yes there is the report post button but thats used if someone broke a rule in the topic but requesting it to be closed isnt breaking a rule and it can do the same thing as that witch is send an alert into the queue allowing them to see which topics have been requested to be closed and it only takes them a few seconds to close the topic they dont even have to post anything if they dont want to.

would probably be best if the button auto-closed the topic, to save the mods from having to deal with it, other than that, yes

Are you kidding? That's the exact reason why you don't give them more responsibilities. You can't just take somebody and say "Hey, you're a moderator now. Go take care of things." It takes time to train people for that stuff.

This idea is just unnecessary. If a trade is done, post that it is and then let the thread die. If people start to spam it, report the spam and a mod will get to it.

That will NEVER happen for any reason.

Then riddle me an answer to my second opinion, smartie pants. 1- its a HUGE waste of time, theres NO point whatsoever to closing a completed trade, why not just let it ride? 1/100000 people will go into 100+ pages to find thread to random bump it. In diablo 2 trading sections, new topics are literally created every half a second. (per section)

People are tagged as trusted because they are what it says, trusted. If paul or and mods see them as trusted, they may get a tag. Otherwise, its a no-go. They wont just randomly add mediators to the list.
