Well there's been a couple of times that people have got their items taken while trying to transfer them over to friends.
Just think, in the chat, or the catacombs there should be somewhere strictly for trading, I'm not good with MS Paint so I didn't make a photo.

njag has said himself that he doesn't intend to make it possible to transfer items to other players
so you'd have to just put it on mp at a safe price then have your friend buy it

And the reason is quite simple, people would bring their friend on the forums and have them make mule characters, then transfer stuff there.
It would be similar to d2, unlimited mulespace.

Although it *would* be cool to be able to donate items to friends.
