• 1. Automatic insertion of the buffers should be available through a javascript button above the text area.

    <B>
  • 2. Automatic insertion of the buffers should be available through a javascript button above the text area.

    <B>
  • 3. Automatic insertion of the
[\list] (forward slash, I know) buffers including at least one bullet should be available through a javascript button above the text area.

    <B>
  • 4. Text highlighting should be available in the six basic text formatting colors.

    <B>
  • 5. Text formatting in the standard RBG color palette should be facilitated. The ability to use these colors in the D2jsp forums already exists, however it is difficult to select the color desired without already knowing its coordinates on the palette. Instead of six colored boxes arranged horizontally, the color grid itself should display, or at least all those colors which are denoted by a special name, such as "deep sky blue", with left and right scrolling buttons if needed.

    <B>
  • 6. The emoticon button should not open in a separate window but instead as an insert like all the other text formatting options, with left and right scrolling buttons if needed

    <B>
  • 7. An active or passive Spell Check option, like *** for example, should be available in all messages.

    <B>
  • 8. A separate "?" or help button should appear somewhere near the text area with instructions on how to effectively use advanced javascript options in posted messages in order to preempt spam topics requesting help with the same.

4-1 after 22 views. The D2jsp community overwhelmingly favors these improvements, so get on it njaguar. If you vote, please comment. Don't just vote 'no' or 'yes' because you do or don't like me.

Agree with everything except #4 & #7
For Spellcheck just use a browser that has spellchecker built-in like Firefox.
And you should have suggested to have a close button on the color formatting popup... although I think that was suggested a long time ago, don't know why it wasn't added.

I agree that the formatting inserts should all close automatically when the cursor leaves their area or they should at least contain a close button. I also support fixing the javascript code errors that turn
[\quote] (forward slash, I know) and other buffers into '<>Div-icon_pointr.gif' or other incompatible dialog upon editing or quotation. Nevertheless, this topic is about the eight suggestions presented. Please focus on them and provide your feedback.

Please vote your conscience and not your friendship, this isn't a popularity contest. If Paul Taulborg implements these suggestions it will be because they are meritorious, not because he thinks I'm cool. Firefox users would receive little or no benefit from suggestion number 7 but it would be of great assistance to D2jsp members using Mozilla, IE, or other internet browsers. Thank you both for voting and also for providing a reason for your selection.

EDIT: I would also suggest fixing whatever error is preventing the quotations in this post from displaying properly.

EDIT2: I clicked on 'Disable Emotions' when originally posting this message. Now that I have edited it, that option has been deselected and I have no way of applying it again. Both edits are examples of the many ways in which the message imput area could be improved, but let's start with the eight suggestions at hand.

1-2: You forgot the [s] (strike) as well. Not all advanced features are listed. It's possible they may never be, but not ruled out for a future date. Did you know there's also an tag? wink.gif
3: Already does this, the JS prompts you through it..
4-5: This has been suggested before, it's possible I may extend this, but not a priority.
6: Since the list is dynamic and could be subject to change, this doesn't really work. I may implement an AJAX container for this, but at this time, it's not worth the extra load and bandwidth.
7: No. There are a dozen other ways you can achieve this. Primarily, browsers already have this BUILT IN. I would absolutely never use a crappy service such as the one you mentioned, that exploits holes in browser security with xss. This feature will not be added to d2jsp.
8: Asking for help is not spam. There already are help documents in HELP at the top right, but users rarely (if ever) read help documents. They would much sooner post for help than dig for it themselves.

Thanks for the ideas, but none of this is new, and already encapsulated in numerous other topics. Thanks
