Well it's a very simple idea and I've thought about it and it can't really be abused.

If someone spams your thread, why not simply have the option to mark his/her post as spam so it becomes minimized (just like youtube)? It does not delete the post, but hides unwanted posts, and other members can choose to see if they want to read the post or not. This is especially useful if you want to get rid of a spammer/flamer quickly and do not wish to wait for a mediator to close the thread or delete the post.

I like the idea. I've seen a similar method used like this on other forums as well, although moderators use a similar method for inappropriate postings.
