no, it's unfair. how would you like to try and log on only to find out your account doesn't exist after x amount of years? the problem is, it would only affect people who made nice names when they joined a long time ago. you're not going to steal woohoojsppwnz or anything, so no, it's unfair and shouldn't be done.

once again. I don't think many people actually realize how few of these names were actual people.

And if they were...100's were made by the same person in hope for profitable return. It's a black market industry.

Also. If you haven't been on in 6-8 years...chances are you have no idea wtf your account ever was to begin with. Also...with 0 posts 0 fg etc etc etc

there is nothing to be lost for these people. Names come and go. It's only fair to users that actually use the site to give them a shot at names they actually want.

it's not "how many of these were actual people", it's the possibility of it even being one person. diablo iii is coming out soon too, a lot of people may become more interested in this forum or something may happen, you never know. it's fair to users who use the site, but they don't deserve the shot at the names they want, otherwise they should have joined earlier. why take something from someone who managed to join 7-8 years ago? you don't think that's unfair?

back then this site was note used for trading. Read the tl;dr 1st post of mine and what other's posted in this thread already to get a picture of what 99.99% of these accounts are.

And someone in this thread even suggested a solution for someone to even keep their join date (if they happened to remember their password)

I read your entire post and I still think it's unfair and selfish of you. you joined in 2009, deal with it. you shouldn't wrong someone with an earlier join and steal their name just because you have extra forum gold and want it. maybe they are multis, maybe they were all made by the same person, but you cannot be sure of that. it's unfair to do that, because even one of them may be legitimate and may or may not want to use the site again, but it's their account and njaguar said he wouldn't do that.

read the post i believe 1-2 pages ago about tying accounts to emails. You don't even have the delete the accounts. It's not selfish of me...100's of people on this site if not thousands would make use of this feature if it was mediated by site moderators and done correctly. And honestly...everyone on this site plays/has played d2 for the most part. They are used to 90 day expirations on their char names. I'm sure the people that made an account 6-8 years ago (if actually legit) would understand that their name was removed. You think its fair they can hoard names like that indefinitely...and never use them? Please...im sure they wouldn't even complain. There is nothing to complain about

I could be a greedy bourgeois fool and say...why not any account with less than 100 fg and not used within a year? But I'm not even going to judge the amount of fg people have as insignificant. I'm going to keep all base rates at absolutely nothing. And...during those particular years...this site was not well-established if at all as a trading site.
