I honestly voted no,

First of all it is a great idea, and I could say other forums have done it, for example me, when i first joined one of those forums i got an automatic rulez...etc i just skipped it.
thats what will happen in here, but the day they need help they can ask at General helper it is why they have made it.

If someone doesn't take the time to find General help ,and recognize there are rules to follow , and random things you need to learn to actually use everything on here properly..

It's there fault for being incompetent .

It's naive to think that it will help out more just because it's automatically sent to them.

Voted [N]

Of course it might help some users , I just think it would be a waste because in my mind half of the users actually don't even care when they first join...

If they honestly are devoted to this site , and don't want to obtain warns/ break rules , I'm sure they will re- direct there own self to all the information that is provided with out any extra needed help ...

Although the intentions in this are strictly good, I would still have to vote no simply because 95% of new users would probably just open that pm and see a huge list of rules and guidelines and just be overwhelmed and probably not read any of it. You don't want to bombard them with all this information right away. I think that it's better off for new users to just look around the forum and kind of get a feel for everything themselves. Think of it as more of a "hands-on" learning experience I guess you could say. That's the way I would prefer to learn any new thing.
