No, just pm someone when you friend request them. If you don't even take the time to do that, you probably shouldn't have friend requested the person to begin with.
It's easy enough to do it manually.

I disagree, I've pm:ed people/friends and people/friends have pm:ed me and asked me if its okay that they add me. Still you can forget it sometimes, and the friend invitation is pending...

And still many friend adds that I've got I rarely got a pm about it, its not that random persons add me, its people I've talked with a lot or friends.

If you really get that many friend requests, can't you just check friends pending every couple of days. Doesn't seem like too much of a hardship to me.

Yes but as you can see many forget to check friend requests all the time.

And that is like saying "If you get many pm's by people, check your pm box 24/7 instead of having a notifaction that tells you that you got a pm."

What if we had to check pm box manually all the time? ;/
