the way it would work would give ppl with xx% warn and more a longer time between the posts. That WILL reduce massive spam by the users who have high  warns because all there doing is spamming anyways.  180seconds or  more sounds reasonable. It also would be possible to give ppl a even longer postingtime if they get more warn so lets say the postingrule is set to 40% (120 sec posting time)...someone gains 50% and the time will raise to maybe 150 sec. With every +10% he will get a "timebonus" of 60seconds. They will think twice before getting another warn!

:bonk:

Okay.... people would just make more multis

Horrid idea

Eh.. why would someone make a multi just because he can't post "as fast" ?
and if you make a multi, the posting delay is what, 2 minutes? for the first 50 posts or something.

Not sure what my opinion was about this in the past but I'm voting yes.

the intention of spammers is to spam. obviously the more warnings they have, the more they want to spam, and the less they care about the rules.

x amount of people spam on accounts with x warn amount.

the more warnings they have, the more they want to spam, and the more warnings they have (assuming this idea is implemented), the less they will be able to spam on that account.

There are two choices for them at this point:

Continue on that account and try and get their warns down.

or

make a multi

these people live in one of these two mindsets. They either;

mindset a) want to change their ways and are trying to get their warns down

or

mindset b) they don't care and just want to spam

Implementing this will not only urge more people to take up the alternative of making a multi (as it is much more appealing), but it will also cause the people with mindset a to just give up and convert to mindset b.

here is what you are accomplishing:

- you screw over the people who have decided that they want to settle down and be regular members who abide by the rules
- you make more people jump to the alternative of making multies
- you piss people off in general. (what percentage of active members would you say has a warn? Not all of them are for spamming)

How do you still think this is a good idea?

yup, there's already something in place differentiating post delay times for people who just joined, or have tt ratings, so add warns to the pool of variables :)

How do you "screw over" anyone simply by adding a little posting delay.
If someone is going to make a multi, he'll do it, no matter the reason.
Piss people off? Posting delay is the smallest form of punishment I can think of.

if I got warned for whatever reason, I wouldn't start making multis or spamming mindlessly around just because I have to wait a few extra seconds between posting..

Sure you might make a few valid points but multis don't care about anything, posting delay or not.
I don't think we should even talk about them.
