I know someone who went afk for like a year and a half and then he ended up giving Paul like $300.

I don't think Paul doesn't want to "delete" these opportunities.

Idea is good but it should be at least 3 years or something like that. But noone will make such thing cause it will be against rules..

its not against the rules technically, its just part of d2jsp code of conduct which paul can change as he sees fit really.

as far as im concerned, the happiness of current active users being at able to customise their jsp experience more, outweighs the possible dissapointment of a small handful of users at losing their account name because they are inactive on the site for an extended period and lose their account to members who are using the website and upholding d2jsp forums. its not like they are losing their forum gold. simply their account name has been removed due to inactivity and transferred to someone who is willing to pay to use it.

the present > the past. thats the bottom line.

they aren't being deleted. their account name will become available, for a fee.. and more importantly the selection criteria for expiration can be changed to exclude donor account NAMES from expiring.
keeping 'the guy you know' happy is belittled when compared to increasing the enjoyment of regularly active members, members that contribute far more $300.

the only real concern i would have about this idea is the feasibility of implementing such a drastic administrative change. thankfully thats not something i have to worry about.

Will not happen.

Why?
Even with zero posts, someone made this account as his own. There is no expiration date, like in games (ie.: D2).

e: I made my account on April 15 2007 - as you can see -, but I started to use only after 2 months later.
If I would made this 1 year earlier, and start to use on the same time - June 15 2007 -, the account must be still there.

not a good idea - even if the person doesn't show up in here, this doesn't mean he had forgoten his account. he might appear sometime and what do we do when this happend and his account is owned by someone else?

I don't mind the idea. I mean, it's common sense that a user who registered 4-5 years ago and has not logged on since that day is obviously not interested in this site. Besides, it's not like the account is being deleted, the name is just being changed. As stated in the FAQ, everything stays the same except for the username.

We see more commonly that a user forgot about this site a long time ago will make a new account because he/she forgot the old one (being so long ago)

As long as the change costs double fg to include both accounts, I don't see a problem with it.

i 100% agree with hedonism's post smile.gif
as long as it's just a name change (and you would have to pay for 2 changes then), i don't see any problems.
