Most of the inappropriate names are censored, or already taken, plus its allowed, there are people who have really bad names, and have no consequences.

You post a s/a thread "such and such scammed me" but you didn't link to his profile. Because he spent 1.5k of his scammed fg to change his name and go under the radar. The scammer continues to scam fg while changing his names to stay ahead of the game before people have a chance to react. If anything, this will give the mods even more work because now they have to go through and check what the original name was and what it was changed to(if that's even possible), and when a scammer has enough fg scattered across multi's, that's alot of information to traverse.
And compared to some things around here, I don't think name changes falls under the tedious category.
You can still click on the name in the thread to see if it is the same person, that changed their name...
All the links and stuff stay the same, and it will still show the persons blogs and threads and stuff, before the name change, as the first name.

Go into my profile, and click "View All" under my blogs, and go to the first page.
All of them say that EliteForcesSam made the topic, because it still shows my original name.
You could do this with topics and all links from the user that were made before they change the name.
