i voted yes to this. But i have something to add.

what about a private list similar to the way myspace does it. only allow certain users to view.

like say i have a few core friends that i want to be able to read my blog but i dont want my WHOLE friends list to be able to see. add an option similar to the way guild leaders can edit user permisions.
that way you can pick and choose who is able to read your personal writings Even if theyre on the friends list.

i really like this idea with read only mode. its good for giving extra information you dont want in your profile.
and i dont know why replying is needed in blogs; in my opinion blogs should be read only by standard. would prevent ppl from writing "gz" in every blog and spamming around.
