Think about it, thousands of topics being made, they get bumped by others that would reset those timers again, then say you have 2 topics up at once it has to know the difference between the topics and keep track of the 4 hour bumps for THOUSANDS of people at once, even with the new servers it would be so laggy on this site you couldn't stand it.
