I am behind Marcus on this suggestion. He works hard and if you check over his dedicated work you will see that he is working to help build a community for religious discussion.
...
somehow i am in two minds seeing this suggestion, so i'll vote "Maybe or not a good idea."
what is this suggestion all about? is it to instigate discussion about scripture or religious ideas?
from what i have seen of the 'word(s) of the day' i would have to say NO
those words of the day would need to be considered spam because there is never a discussion point with them
and only on the very last one (which was running on with off-topic remarks) did marcus make a second post
(and since all the 'there is no god' threads would have to be classified as religious they would come to that forum as well)
marcus, do you want a 'faith' or 'prayer' forum where the members can support each other or just post positive messages?
there could certainly be a space for that, but what would hinder silly kids (or adults) going there to make crap posts?
in my opinion religion and politics are often interwoven, so there is a justification to have discussion on both in one forum
what is needed is a better decorum on pard, perhaps a little more moderator interference to make that forum work as discussion forum rather than slinging matches and especially +1s, while we are all probably from time to time guilty of making superfluous/silly posts
there are a few which excel in doing that and those destroy many fruitful discussions
plus there are those which are vindictive against certain causes, faith vs non-faith is only one of many conflicts
before making the decision on an extra forum, i think it needs to be considered what you really want and what you would get
nb: what about a blog at a place which could be advertised in the pard sticky (and which roo [sorry, rew] would keep controlled)
