Do you really think that this hasn't already been suggested countless times? Do you think that the same suggestion has been shot down without a good reason?
How many other users do you think have tried to make a name change for the first time, discovered it to be taken and raged in this forum for that reason? Do you think you're the first?


Nope, i don't think I'm the first, and I'm not exactly raged. I just think there's a much better system than leaving every account intact when it's clearly not being used. Like Short_Oompa suggested, change the name to InactiveUserXXX or w/e and send a notification email, so they can either reclaim their account or continue ignoring it

To put this into terms of why bnet does it, and why paul would do it.

Bnet does it to clear room and wipe out items so the game does not get over flooded with the same item.
Paul would do this, because those accounts that aren't in use, might have fg on them.
Exterminating the fg - paul might like.
Opening the name up - other jspers might like.
And sending an email to original email they had the account signed up to, that is one of the purposes you register an email to the account.
Also, add to the suggestion - there be a 30day wait in between, if the user comes back and reply's to the PM saying they are using jsp again, then the name stays with them.
If they do not come back in that 30days - then the name is up for grabs.

People do it through various ways, fg, cash, etc. It does happen.

excellent idea!

now the kid who just got back from Iraq checks his email to find out this his long lost diablo 2 jsp account, which he dreamed of going back to when he got home --- with its easy to kill fallen and pretty looking act 3 --- sure he was afraid to play act 2 -- but act 3... it will be glorious!

how wonderful!!!


... oh shit... some little boy who can't come up with a half decent name has asked that my d2jsp account be removed so he can have my name... what the hell!? i got that name in 2004, before i went to college!!

real suggestion:

cut the bump timer to 15 minutes -- have an automatic app that locks you from posting for an hour if you reply to the same topic twice without another in between


now no more stupid bumps looking for a p whatever the fuck you can't find in a night pushing my little iso ber thread

and then i can bump again in 15~ -- way better than waiting for more hours to make my nigma

I think its a good idea but I dont think it will happen. It would be too much work there are probably thousands of 03s-06s that arent active.
