Most of the time, they don't post to keep the thread from getting views. If a user is so concerned, they can pm a mod for confirmation instead of running to general help. Remember, posting the reason will bump the thread to the top, moving possibly legitimate posts out of the way for an infraction.
what sarge said.

mostly yes. but "closed on request" option should be added there.
my topics which i requested a mod to close was categorized as "spam" in current system.

Yes this is true, all the threads i asked to be closed are just mared as spam ;P

problem is that often what is dislayed when a topic is closed isn't even the right reason
it's just whatever the person reporting the thread put
and you often see people posting in GH that their topic got closed for X reason when they didn't do X
but then it turns out theres a different thing that would make it closeable but they still don't care because they feel it should be reopened
this might just aggravate that problem and cause more work for the mods who would now have to manually check to see if the closing reason reported matches what they saw
edit: not going to vote tho since this might be nice

that isnt true, if someone reports for spam, but theres early bumps itll be closed on early bumps.
thanks to everyone else that voted yes,
