If there is no way to get rid of a scammer tag there would not really be a point in repaying a scam (except ethical reasons).
Nobody would trade with a user who has a scammer tag and who repaid.

People can change after noticing they did a mistake. Punishing someone forever for a mistake is not really a good way.

And to be sure while trading simply trade with a mediator.

I could understand if it was a 10-15 year gap were talking about (hence why insurance companies drop car wrecks after about 5-7), but its typically a 1-6 month time span. Just because you feel sorry about something doesn't mean you won't do it. I feel like shit every time I cheat on a girl, but I do it all the time. Different subject, but a similar concept.

True, but I might have something that could work...
What about a "Trade: Repaid" tag?
I think it would make sence to have something like that, just to be warned etc.

But I believe Paul wasn't planning on making a new tag, so probably not going to be implemented ;)

this is good

[X] No

People change.... Members that have been tagged & did the right things (paid back there scams, helped out the site & proved to the site that they deserved a 2nd chance)

Shouldn't continue to be punished for a mistake they made in the past & served there time & made the effort to change there ways

There's several members that are very helpfull & trusted on this site that @ one time were tagged

They still scammed though, at least if they are tagged people will know to request a mediator when dealing with them. Just cause there is an odd bunch of people who changed doesn't mean all of them do. They will scam again for the right price, which is why everyone should be warned to trade with them correctly.

Currently, if you get scammer tags and repay, wait the year or whatever of following rules, helping etc, you get your rights back.
I think that the rights should be the same, but the big red scammer tag shouldn't be removed. Because if you scam once you're more likely to scam again. If you keep that tag people can be more wary of you. This could help the people who were not around when the person was tagged.
If no, please post why.

No,

what happens if you have a problem with paypal when buying fg and you get locked for paypal's screw up.

thats not your fault and you have to show that your a scammer when actually your not.

i do like your idea, but maybe have a scammer HISTORY with the reason or what they did?

I don't think you get tagged a scammer for that, just Gold: Locked.

That would be a nice fusion with the repaid tag, links to a list of it.

Well obviously something like that you wouldn't stay tagged.

What about regret? Isn't this the reason why those scammers are applying to repay their scams and get that scammer tag removed and get their rights back?
There is a reason why they stay a year+ after repaying their scams and that is to show that they have thoroughly learned from their mistakes.

if they actually get their account locked and took the process to get it unlocked that means they care

no point on leaving old stuff on it saying they used to be a scammer

most users who get locked / scammer tags usually make new accounts right on the spot (illegal Vs d2jsp.org rules)

also its not true that once they scam, they always scam.

the process to get unlocked is very hard and long
