Indeed Rew this suggestion could be seen as undermining the entire events system, however also being part of the Runescape section I know you understand that at times practicality is more effective than theoretics.
Furthering this, it is definetly safe to say "My Events" is not used for what it is meant to be. It has been month[s?] since it has been released, and it is still rare to see users obliging to obide by the rules brought about from its existance.
I'm not saying that everyone disobeys it, but the ORIGINAL unpopularity of the system tends to be the only thought in minds, users knowing that there isn't a great deal of punishment for posting in the wrong section;
[Don't take this the wrong way: Yes moderators doing what they can, but the USERS are posting in the wrong section knowing the possibilities of their actions BUT still going through with it ONLY to seek what they desire]

And so thus we have the conundrum that if this suggestion gets trashed, we still face the facts that users are going to keep posting things like "Iso 3 bandos team" in the regular runescape section.
Because lets face it, thats where most users 'troll', and thus why would they want to use events when only a small minority, of whom are usually those who understand the rules and are there for services?
So by editing and implementing this suggestion we are opening up a whole new section [metaphorically] which is FOCUSED on appeasing these crowds, thus users can post there KNOWING that all the people wanting to do their boss hunting or as such will be viewing there.

On your other matter, No we should not be rewarding users for failing to use my events, but we should also not punish them for not participating in a system that hardly works for the Runescape section, which was originally specifically designed for Diablo.
And as stated above, if this isnt implimented then we will still face the daily spam and the fake-optimism that one day the runescape users are going to wake up and suddenly 'like' the events system.
So in fact we arent rewarding them for not co-operating, but instead we are facing their opinion and redesigning their section to suit them better. Because lets face it, as Napoelon once said in an indirect quote: "Appease the masses and you shall never meet a foe to withstand your power"

And @ others, I'm not having a go at Rew, im presenting an argument in respond to his well-thought out opinions :)

Quote (RewtheBrave @ Feb 23 2010 06:37am)

This is the only part I will clarify. When My Events was being designed, it was intended as a site-wide feature and RS was meant to be included. Mini-Games are events (especially when people are paying FG vs them, as they become trade events), although I completely sympathize with your point about practicality. Whereas I would prefer that users catch on to the Events system regarding Mini-Games, you prefer that we create a new forum because you believe the RS section won't get it in the end. tbh I don't know what is most practical in the long-term, but your suggestion would remove a sort of "obstacle" for RS section users. And that's really the only reason why I'm neutral about it instead of being against it :)

But months of trial and error with My Events still proves that it's not going to be a popular choice for events.
Once again, those who have 'nothing to loose' post in the regular section knowing that although their thread will be closed, at least they will get instant replies and so forth.
Which in contrast for My events, where already a dislike/dissatisfaction already exists in the minds of the Runescape 'trolls', would never sucumb to such a popularity. Not to mention, they would have to sift through all the job services.

However, this argument is like a dog chasing its tail :) It really is just a matter of the popularity of this idea with the runescape users and how it judges in comparison to the original concepts of my events.
I've always been a believer of the majority vote - I mean, if rs users wish for this more than using my events - what else really matters?

Thanks rew once again for good inputs :)
