How about someone getting a Spammer tag when so deserved?

For someone to get the Spammer tag...
1 - they get 10 posts reported as spam in 1 day. (15? 20? more?)
2 - they have had at least 2 warns in past 6 months for spam, or have a current warn for spam
3 - a mod verifies eligibility and sets the flag.

If someone is Spammer-tagged:
1 - "Posts: 10,342" changes to "Posts: Spammer"
2 - thread openers, meds, jr mods and up, m++ can delete their posts. That "thread openers" part is very important and needs to happen!
3 - their post count is cut significantly (say, to to 10%) AND frozen for the duration of the spammer tag.
4 - they cannot post more then 20/day (exempt forums that are MEANT for spamming, if any, and perhaps exempt the s/a and why-lock forums)

They can lose the tag after a process similar to warn removal, but 3 months long (the first time). Repeat offenders get 6 months, then a year... and so on.

this would be awesome tag in the eyes of spammers
they'd go for it

Gigan - if spammers get the tag and suddenly can't post much, that cuts it down.

if there is a spammer tag, then it would make d2jsp a circus ( and "spammer" has nothing to do with a trader rating )

In my opinion, most people would spam the shit out of the forums just to actually get any kind of tag if that was implemented.

Edit: It wouldn't matter if their post count got frozen or cut back. People would still do it anyways.

What makes you think mods would actually hand these out?

a warn is far simpler and more effective.

what this site NEEDS is a mod team who does their job.

just the tag alone, youd prolly be right. but if there're consequences to having it (losing/freezing post count, which is pretty minor, but also being post-restricted, AND certain people can DELETE their posts... I doubt they'd want THAT.

More tags aren't needed. If anything more actions should be taken towards preventing spammers I agree with that but there are better solutions to do that IMO.
