I couldn't agree with you more. If someone spams, they are given two verbals, then an eventual warn. People should be given lengthy suspensions, along with a warn. A one day suspension won't cause much of a problem for someone (but it will be an inconvenience). The key here is suspensions. If people don't face consequences for their actions, then they won't learn to behave. I used to report spam threads and posts in the hopes of it actually "helping make the site a better place", but it seems that reporting posts does nothing. I have noticed a rising in the multis and scammers, can nothing be done about this? Ever since November 11th, 2008 (the mass banning of users--mostly due to D2L0ADER), it seems that the ratio of multis to users is rising. Can nothing be done to get rid of these multis sooner? Can nothing be done to compare the IP addresses of users in a quicker way?

Yup, suspensions is basically the best option. If you ask me, I would say suspensions are better then warnings, as you said its more of an inconvenience for the user. People don't learn from a pat on the back, pain causes change, its a fact.

These are good suggestions, Ben. I've been the victim of harassment and spam (and racism) in my own bold/red threads before. Unfortunately, all that happens is the offending user(s) is/are "warned strongly" and my thread is locked.

Also, I agree that the early bumping and spamming is out of control. Death_Note in particular gets on my nerves for early bumping because he does it every 2 minutes or so, and he reposts immediately after his threads are closed.

He is not alone, obviously, but I think an increased warn rate (with an associated 24 hour suspension) for the many infractions that occur on this site would make it a more pleasant place to be for the rest of us.

Please let us know what kind of feedback you receive! (Don't forget to post a link to it in our Notebox and/or in your profile/signature!)

I wouldnt mind seeing mod's give 10% warn on a curve...

I also dont agree with the assumption that site donors will stop cause of 70% warn... site donors will stop getting warns once they realize the mods are not messing around IMO

Unfortunately the dad, crust, vendetta days are dead.

I love your post and have made similar ones in the past, but I do not see any major change coming around because of it.
There are far too many people who would get away with rule breaking, and those who got warned would bitch all day about other users not getting it.

Keep the fire going brah, I'm rooting for you.

i agree
it's not like the bigger donors are common rulebreakers anyway. most people that make a lot of donations are people who are dedicated to making the site nicer

and either way, people will learn. after a few warns, or a few other people getting warns, they'll realize they can't be as immature and dickheaded as before

it'd make the site nicer imo, and i really don't see the downside.

jsp is getting more and more popular, so realistically, instead of making the rules more lenient they should be more heavily enforced

Seeing as I used to moderate the trade forums back in the day, apparently when dad was around ;], I know exactly what the mods are going through.

the biggest problem isn't that people aren't being punished hard enough (it is one part of it you are right):

it is that there is far to many people on at once now.

the best solution to the above problem would be a drain on the speed of the site. And it is site rules that are automatically enforced by the sites code. As in early bump? Doesn't even let you early bump. That is one fix for a lot of the spam.

something like that.
