having a trusted tag is a step on the way to becoming a member++ then moderator and so on
and for the users who don't want to go that route it does still afford them certain privileges (like running services) and is a way for the site to acknowledge them as having contributed in a positive way

if the med doesn't want you, what you could do to maybe get involved is pm the non trusted people who are running the service for a particular med and offering to bonewall for them whenever they are lvling

again if a non trusted posted that they thread gets shutdown pretty fast
the trusted member hosts a thread
and has untrusted people running the service for them
those people can bump that thread and take jobs
just work with them
