First, I would like to say, I have been the victim of auto suspension word filter. I posted a question in the general help forum, wasn't a justified suspension.


I vote no for these reasons:

- It would remove the point of having the filters. Everyone would have access and know ways to get around the filters now, which would promote illegal trading, spamming, scam attempts, and whatever else exists on the filters that is used to prevent these things.
- Overall, the amount of people suspended by mistake is probably less than the people suspended for valid reasons.

I voted yes because I honestly had no idea that a certain user who's name starts with ant and ends with zz was added to the auto-suspension list... Until you told me at least. I also see people post in general help all the time saying that they were suspended for "no reason" when 99% of the time it was a filtered word that they were unaware of big yes from me.

you can get suspended for typing users names?

My good sir, anyone with the IQ of a toaster can bypass word filters. The list is a good idea because it would prevent new JSP'rs from making mistakes, while any one who wants to spam will spam anyway.

Anyway, although I think it would prevent vacations, I think you would see a HUGE amount of threads asking for the stories of why/who/how/when/where related to the banned words.

Anyone who spends any significant amount of time in general help will agree with me that there are frequently threads where people ask why they were suspended, and 99% of the time it was from an auto-filter word that they had no idea would get them suspended.
And in response to what Col said about people posting for stories: wouldn't they just get suspended for trying to bypass the word filter anyways? I personally think that it would do more good than harm and I'm waiting to see a compelling reason not to add this though I already voted yes.

Can I have my name added to the filter? Would be badass, imo.

Anyway, the filter is stupid. Voted yes. How should people know they aren't allowed to type a users name?
