Once again. The rule is 1 account per person, doesn't matter if they are on the same IP or not. One account, per person, at all times.
As long as they do not transfer FG amonst themselves or post in the same Trading topics, they will be fine.

If you do not believe what I am telling you, ask a Mod. They will tell you the exact same thing I am.

I'm actually bouncing PM's with Ole as we speak. And how are you going to ask two siblings never to post in the same topic, never to trade, etc?
Besides, as I already said, this does NOT automatically ban EVERYBODY, but it does, at the very least, display EVERY clashing IP.

Once the base format's done, it's EXTREMELY easy to set it so it doesn't ban anybody automatically and instead just gives notification.
It's the idea here, not the exact template.

2. We had ours configured so that any registration IPs that clashed, all accounts after the original were automatically banned and a signal was sent up noting the first account so that could be manually addressed as well.

3. Any POST registration IP addresses that clashed would be noted but not automatically banned, that way you knew the culprits but could speak with them first. This is amazing in dealing with accounts registered off proxys.

#2 ... isn't this already in place? once a person is ipbanned ... all accounts created on that ip are also banned..

#3 people with static ips have a constantly changing ip.... you can log back each ip address that that person used to log onto jsp...
but if it is always changing .. you're just going to have a huge list of ip addresses that belong to that account.. it doesn't mean that they would use an old ip address to register a new account..

for example say one account is banned on a static ip address... the person then resets the address so it's new... they create another account..

what am i missing here? headscratch.gif

1. You're missing the main idea. This will flag every single clashing IP, thus it would eliminate the need for multi report section. Every moderator would know instantly. This includes those created off proxys. Open 1 window, your post registration IPs will clash and you're done.

2. It doesn't matter. Running off a proxy changes the IP address for the window you're currently browisng in. Once you leave that window, you're back on your original IP. Aka, open up 1 link and you'll be on your IP, which sends up a notice. Aka one SINGLE slip and the staff would know. This means if you EVER log on an account on IP that you've been on before, it'll clash.

Voted yes. Would take a little bit of work, but should ultimately be an effective tool to keep the site clean.

Displaying and reporting IP addresses comes standard with any free forum software that you could search on google.

We allow 1 account per person. If people have family members or neighbors who share an IP, we recommend that all accounts shared in the household or area follow all site rules, as all accounts can be held liable for the actions of one.
