If it has been 5 or 6 years and I have never posted on it?

I would understand.

I agree with Wycka, people do come back and wouldn't you be pissed off if you have donated to the site and got fg and your account "EXPIRED"?

thanks for your opinion. fair call.

but imo, only a very very small % of people come back to the site after being away from d2jsp or d2 in general for so long and when they do, alot of people probably wouldnt remember their account name and/or password, which i have seen very often lately now that interest in d2 is back up since the announcement of d3.

a year is a very long time, if u want to keep the account all you need to do is log on every now and then kinda like keeping a char name from expiring. and obviously paul would have the final say as to whether an account name could be eligible for trade based on common sense, like if an account has been obviously abandoned such as the example i used earlier.

here are some other such examples.
http://forums.d2jsp.org/user.php?i=44541
http://forums.d2jsp.org/user.php?i=88302

probably made for a reason which my friend pointed out, which was to create an account to get the d2jsp bot.

this is more based around accounts that have been created and never used. or accounts that have been used very little and forgotten.

its just giving an idea which could be a great addition a boost.

dont hate on it simply because a very small amount of users would be put out when alot of users which are very active among the community and keep the site a good place to use.

and people please dont vote no simply because you think it wont happen.

VERY good point, i didnt think of that.

maybe that could be a condition, ur account cannot expire if you have helped the site in a manner of ways, donating, ex mod team helper, trust, mediator etc.

things change. paul has complete control over this site and just because he has said something doesnt mean he cant update the rules, its happened several times before and also, this forum is about changing what is already imposed upon this site.

so its pretty ignorant to say it will never happen when there is a possibilty

Insight? Opinion as to why not?

He put a lot of effort into this and it wouldn't hurt for him to get constructive criticism or an alternative resolution. Posting this as the third reply doesn't encourage others to post site suggestions. I recommend posting some sort of information that backs up your assumption of what will and will not happen...or not posting a remark at all. This does not encourage others to post site suggestions if they think that mods/meds are going to shoot down their suggestion without the jsp public getting a chance to give there $0.02.

I think this is a great idea, especially considering that there are hundreds of abandoned accounts on jsp that were (to my knowledge) created for the simple purpose of downloading the d2jsp bot.

How many people created an account for one purpose and never signed on again? Thats alot of dead accounts that were originated for reasons that no longer exist today.

Great idea Bender. Even if there is not alternative solution at this time, it may be a stepping stone towards some sort of resolution.

Because it's been discussed already many times. Paul said once that he will never delete anyone, even if user has never been to jsp, i. e. (Last Seen: Never). Also '03 users are regularly happen to come back wink.gif

A few exceptions to the norm will always exist. If Paul makes or has made the determination, so be it. tongue.gif

But if I were to register on a site 5 or 6 years ago. Then try to comeback to find out that my account had expired due to inactivity, I would completely understand. I would even go as far as expecting my account to have since expired.

This issue doesn't pertain to me in anyway as I have no desire of changing my name. But I completely agree with the logic supporting it.
