what happens when you get to the point to where ur taking no damage whatsoever
then u could just afk with a monster hitting u to grow prof.

:edit it could also be used in combo with a heal charm to raise your proficiency crazy fast

well thats a miss , i would assume that if u took 0 damage it would not make ur proficiency gain a point
only a succesful hit

the problems are
1. armor prof is a passive factor and you cant bring it up by taking your own action
and the bonus wont help as much as the trouble (especially when you use light armors)

2. average base stats of each class isnt fair (padded robe > robe, scale armor> leather armor, plate mail > chain mail) unlike weapon/charm
