A got a simple suggestion: Please add some reminding messages, if people add you as friends and you need to confirm. Something like:

"xxxxx added you as a friend and is waiting for approval, please klick here to approve/decline"

And if you added someone, a message like this could be good:

"xxxxx approved/declined your friend request"

Reason why I'd like to have this is that I mostly dont scroll to the bottom of my profile so I just coincidently find out if people added me as friends.. To avoide pm-box-spam though, this message just should be sent once per user that requests friendship with you and maybe you could also add an option in "settings" to switch these reminding messages off for all those who dont want to get these

And I still think no, I don't see why it is a problem at all to check if you have any friend requests once a day or so. Even if you do have an option to turn it off, I still think it's incredibly unnecessary
