The system that was in place in the Sports Coliseum and it's Sub forums was working out great.

However, it has come to my attention that all of the "Unofficial Betters List" threads have / will be locked.

Now before this is posted a million times, I understand this:
D2JSP DOES NOT SUPPORT BETTING.

And never has any member of the sports coliseum forum ever debated that. We have never as a community called for a "Welcher" to have their forum gold locked or to get banned.

By shutting down these unofficial betters lists, you are destroying a community inside of a community here at d2jsp.

Some people like Diablo, some people like Guild Wars, some people like Pokerstars.

If you feel that the Unofficial betters list threads are spam. Have you ever been to General Chat, or ANY of it's subforums?

There is no doubt that some things need to change in the Sports Coliseum forum
Crack down on spam all you want, warn people, restrict people's access for repeated offenses.
That's up to you. But for people who were using the forum to have good clean fun, I find this to be a little unfair.

It's time to put things into perspective here. People are going to bet in the Sports Coliseum and in every one of it's subforums.
Is it worth it to shut down the unofficial betters lists, and have many people get screwed or "Welched" out of their FG?
These better lists are the only things that kept order in the forums.
The people who managed them did an EXCELLENT job, and they were all well-respected members of the forum

THE TL;DR VERSION:
If we don't have active betters lists, then people who only use the betting system on d2jsp only to scam/welch will be able to do so with very much ease.
The active better lists stopped people like that from making huge amounts of undeserved profit which they then used on the forums repercussion-free.
Without better lists, what is to stop Randy the Random from coming into the Sports Coliseum Forum, welching on every bet, returning to East Ladder with 10k fg?

In conclusion, I feel that the Unofficial Betters Lists should go back to the way they were. We are more than willing to make negotiations as needed.

i voted no, the list wasn't poorly run we just had the wrong idea about managing it that didn't cohere enough with the mods way of doing things, therefore we had a privilege abused it and lost it this is how life works

You are correct, it did cause problems, but for you to say that it caused more problems than good is just an ignorant statement.
Let me ask you a question, how many times have you visited the poker forums? Once, Twice, Never? There's no way that you can argue that it did more bad than good without spending time down there.
