I propose that we change the sig/ava size rule slightly.

Currently, we are allowed 70 kb for a sig and 50 kb for an avatar, for a total "personal site load" of 120 kb.

I propose that we allow any size signature and avatar, as long as they do not go over the 120 kb combined.

That way, if you want a little better quality picture in your sig you can give up some ava or if you just have to have that cool animated gif of the chick rubbing herself for your ava, you can reduce your sig size, et cetera.

Everything else stays the same, i.e. dimensions and stuff.

That sounds great. I think it'll give a lot more opportunity for users.

Also, the reason why it has a max like that is so that people don't lag too much, but this way, it's exactly the same.

But, I just realized, at the same time, I think a lot of people might abuse this. It might also wear down the Members++ with:

-More questions about it
-Invalid reports for those who haven't noticed the change
-Maybe even more violations for USERS who haven't noticed the change.

Hmm.. Yes and no.

The 100 people who pm about sigs would learn the new rule pretty quickly imo

How could we have more violations? if they followed the old rule they'd still be within the limits lol

Clearly voted "You're awesome Schlag".

Sounds like a good idea but I agree with cheeseball it would probably end up with more abuse and "work".
But who knows??

Well the people who report it would find out quickly, but a lot of the people on jsp don't read the rules over more than once, if they read them at all.

This could cause them to have sig and ava together being bigger, maybe because they heard that the sig could be 120kb, but they won't remove the ava.

Good idea, IMO, will just take a little getting used to smile.gif

Voted yes. I agree with neo. I am also a gfx artist. And an average sig saved as PNG (For best quality.) Is usually in the 90k region.

Great idea!
