Have been slowly investing in collections and gear to sell magic the gathering cards.
So far spent 700-800ish in collections and couple hundred in sleeves, bags, top loaders etc.
According to the app which scans cards rough value of the higher end cards is about 2000(usd) with 350-400 (usd) if I were to sell the rest in bulk.
In Australia people tend to sell at a 1aud:1usd ratio.
Wondering if anyone else has been involved with magic the gathering or any other trading card games even. Would love to pick your brain and brainstorm about ways of making consistent profit and even long term investments, can definitely spend and sit on cardboard! :)
I have been purchasing off of ebay and tcg sites to suss out packaging and pricing too (where bulk/packs are concerned)

This is also just an enjoyable hobbie, I love collections and magic is all time favourite. Would love to see collections and talk magic some time too.

With these type of investments don't you run the risk of them printing the card again or is it because its from an original set its worth wont decline?

For instance if the next set there's a bunch of mox re-prints, mind twist or black lotus or what have you.

I have no doubt because they are from a past set they would retain value but would they retain full value.

Probably would make 1st editions go up in value if it’s anything like pokemon or yu gi oh

The cards have identifiers on them. Might have #’s or “1st edition”

There are specific cards (around 100 I guess not fully educated on the matter) that are on a "reserved list" meaning wizards of the coast are not legally allowed to reprint these cards in any form.
These cards range from 1-100000 dollars black lotus being one of the most sought after, I have bought a half a dozen of the cheapest of these reserved list and with collections I am buying/look to buy I will retain the "vintage" cards so pre 2000.
