Bought a pc with a rtx 2070 super . Would also like to use it for mining if possible. I don’t know anything about mining so wondering if any bros here can give any advice.

What platform to use for mining?
How hard is it to setup?
Does mining interfere with gaming if let’s say I’m trying to play red dead & mine?
How much is the bump in your electricity bill (for US miners)?
What are you grossing per day mining?
Can you mine alt coins or is it only a few specific coins?

Lmk, advice is appreciated.

I get that but are there different hash configurations where I would be basically be slowing my mining to make gaming possible is what I'm asking.

Windows
Insanely easy
Only if you're using a crap program with poor priority handling
Depends on your electricity cost, mine is like 75c a day at 0.09c/KwH for a 3090.
It depends on the price of the coin. For instance I was making $10 a day consistently in the beginning of April. I didn't sell and Eth over doubled in price, so that mining is now $25 a day. Now it's ~$18 a day since the network got more hash power but not as much as the price went up.
I only mine etherium.

Cudominer is incredibly easy to set up and it doesn't interfere with my games at all. You can even set it to only turn on when your computer is idle so you can CPU mine monero when you're not using the computer, but when you move the mouse it stops.

If you use cudominer please use my referral code.

Takes all of two seconds to install and you can keep it running while you play games with no performance degredation. Works on windows. Let me know if you want help putting your settings in order. It's pretty easy to use.

Keep in mind when setting up a mining rig, is it going to pay the extra money your going to be paying for on your power bill? Lots of people setup solar mining rigs to counter this. Also not all coins can be mined, tokens for example can't be mined.

Didn't buy the comp for mining but would like to do it if it's economical to basically pay for my computer.

Just did the math seems like I'm paying around 10-11 cents kWh.

According to this after electricity costs, I'd still be netting over 5/day by mining eth.

150/month is nothing crazy but it'd still be free money so why not?

I tried doing the math and it works out in the long run but has a huge startup cost. In the end you're tripling the cost (and therefore your payback time) to make an extra couple percent in profit.

Like, to power a rig you'd either need enough solar power to power two of your rigs so you can sell back to the grid during the day to even out your night power, or you'd need an off grid setup with batteries. Either way, you're looking at huge cost since you have to have a professional come out if you want to put it on-grid. In the end it's better to just double the amount of GPUs deployed, but if you were already planning on making your house solar it can be a nice addition.
