Most people work hard their entire life. Hard work for wealth or success is an illusion, a marketing scam by motivational speakers and people that bitch about welfare queens while selling bootstraps
In this country and in this world either you inherit the foundation for what you have or you get incredibly lucky
I don't think anyone would argue that hardwork alone is enough to become wealthy. Many people in professions such as teachers, plumbers, fire fighters, or whatever work hard their entire life and never become wealthy, but that doesn't mean hard work can't make you wealthy, if you also make decisions along that are aimed toward a successful life (Success being defined as making money here).
I suppose it also depends on how we are defining wealthy in this scenario. I absolutely believe that someone from shitty circumstances can make good decisions and work hard and end up being relatively wealthy compared to most of the population...Say 150k-200k/yr....With little of it coming down to luck. If we're defining wealthy as the elite class making millions a year, then I'm going to agree that a large part of it will come down to luck/inheritance.
