What's the current state of cryptocurrencies? Which currencies are popular or worth mining? What tools/techniques are profitable (such as cloud mining)?

I dont remember exactly the specific values, but I had bitcoin mining down just few months ago, and the performance was like this:

$5k investment, paid off in 2 months of 24/7 mining.

Which leads to $625 a week using 5k dollars worth of equipment.

(it varies according to the currency value, but this is an average)

Did you even account for the power usage required to run a mining system 24/7? Probably had a $650/week electric bill.

Nope, I was about to say, this is before the electric bill.. the electric bill is different to everyone, depends on country, company, etc etc..
But in the UK, the electric bill off something like this would be ~$150 a month in us dollars.
