Anytime is a good time to buy and hold precious metals. Especially now that gold is a tier 1 asset. With the world shifting towards a new monetary system, its wise to start leaving the fiat currency and start building a solid foundation of wealth.

Solid advice, I regret not buying more gold a few years ago.

Now that its at ATHs its harder(for me atleast) to buy more, ill hope for another dip then stack up

I own a coin shop and gold and silver is very hot right now... it going up almost every day is not scaring people at all from buying more...

The best way to preserve wealth is to invest in companies, as they always adapt to market conditions and pay dividends as an added bonus.

Gold has outperformed the S&P 500 over the past 5 years. But even more than that, its very nice taking physical ownership of your asset. For sure a good idea to have some.

There are a few draw-backs to buying gold and silver yourself.
- Security risk
- Insurance costs
- Non-producing asset
- Purchase spot price charges a high premium

If owning precious metals is your goal then I recommend gold/silver streamers. Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM/WPM.TO) and Franco Nevada (FMV/FNV.TO) are both good ones.

Streamers:
- Own rights to the actual metal in the ground at far below market rates.
- Cash flow positive, these companies make money and reinvest earnings into more gold/silver in the ground.
- Hold a diversified portfolio of assets, the loss of a mine can destroy a mining stock, streamers are significantly more protected.
- Pay a dividend, you will earn income on your ownership stake.

gold didnt even outperform S&P 500 in the last 5 years. Further back S&P 500 outperforms gold by a large amount.
