Thinking about buying $5,000 worth of carnival cruise line if it dips below $10. Thoughts?

After this covid-19, cruise ships stock might not rise too far... ever again. Especially considering how various countries treated them when they tried to put into port.

Check their solvency first. They may not exist this time next year.

Doubt there will be any demand for that vacation service. Cruise lines are a bane on the ocean and ports, good riddance.

I know an 85 year old guy, who's set for life, money wise. He retired at 62.

He only invested in very long term company's stock, that always pays annual dividends.

I mean cruises will still be a thing after COVID. Personally I don’t see short term catalysts for them or the general travel sector. I think they might be a good buy as we get closer to a vaccine. Any positive news there and these stocks will go up violently imo.

^ Looking at nclh leap calls, profit if it gets to even half of what it was precovid. I’ll pick some up next month after their earnings report (expected to be bad).

Cruises will be here but not necessarily the same companies. Losing a year of revenue while having to still maintain a fleet of ships is hard unless the company has huge cash reserves

Yeah, I know. You definitely won't get rich quick, but by the time you retire, you won't have any worries.

It's also a very low risk investment strategy.
